Looking to find a fresh bit of style for your farmer (or maybe even your animals) in Stardew Valley? Who can blame you? Even without the rings and boots that add actual perks to the player, hats are primarily cosmetic items, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t into looking good for the sake of it!

Stardew Valley: 10 Items We Wish Existed In Real Life

While it initially appears to be a grounded farming sim, Stardew Valley has some magical items that we'd love to see irl.

Some hats are in the character creator, but the majority of the hats in Stardew Valley will come from the Hat Mouse, operating out of the house at the southernmost edge of Cindersap Forest. There are also several hats you can find on your own.

The 1.6 update added more than two dozen new hats to Stardew Valley, but the update is currently only available on PC at the time of publishing. Every hat exclusive to the 1.6 update will be marked with an asterisk (*) to help console and mobile players keep track of what they don’t need to worry about yet.

Hat Mouse Hats

Once you’ve unlocked your first achievement in a new playthrough, you’ll find a letter in your mailbox the following morning.

This letter comes from the Hat Mouse, who takes up residence in the abandoned home you may have noticed at the very southernmost border of Cindersap Forest as you head south from the Wizard’s Tower. If not, head down there as soon as possible – the Hat Mouse is one of the biggest suppliers of, well, hats!

New hats unlock as you unlock new achievements, making progressing through the game that much more lucrative for completionists.

Tailor-Making Hats With The Sewing Machine

Stardew Valley: How To Get All Hats (16)

Have you been keeping up on your relationship with Emily, the blue-haired bartender over at the Saloon? We sure hope so, since befriending her is the ticket to unlocking access to a sewing machine.

You can use the one in Emily’s room once you can enter her bedroom (after reaching two hearts with her), or you can wait until she sends you a letter about “rock rejuvenation.” This quest requires you to give Emily several gemstones (namely an Amethyst, Emerald, Jade, Ruby, and Topaz), but she’ll thank you by providing you with your very own sewing machine for your house, meaning you can tailor at any point.

For each hat in the table below, you’ll needone piece of Cloth, as well as the items listed.

Plenty of the tailoring hats in Stardew Valley have a small chance to drop when you slay monsters. I've never used the Sewing Machine in my Joja playthrough at all, but I've been wearing the Propeller Hat for several seasons now.

All Other Hats In Stardew Valley

Finally, there are a few odds and ends that you’ll find can serve as headwear if you get creative. These hats are primarily free of charge, but they can be somewhat difficult to find.

Some of these Stardew Valley hats require good luck with monster drops in the various dungeons in the game, while others require specific actions as you play the game (like making the best soup for the governor, or for heading up to the summit of the mountain).
