Bayern eyeing City’s Grealish (The Sun)

Bayern Munich could be looking to refresh its wing position — and Manchester City star Jack Grealish could be on the club’s wish list:

BAYERN MUNICH are eyeing up a shock move for Jack Grealish, SunSport has learned. The German giants are about to appoint Vincent Kompany as their new manager. And the former Manchester City ace is believed to have identified the England ace as one of his key targets to rebuild the team.

Kompany is believed to be a huge fan of Grealish and Munich think there could be a chance to tempt the ex-Aston Villa midfielder into a switch to Germany. They think the chance of linking up with Harry Kane will be a huge pull. The success Jadon Sancho has had since returning to Germany may also open Grealish’s eyes up to the opportunities that exist beyond the Premier League.

Despite being a key part of City’s recent successes, Grealish has fallen slightly down the pecking order at the Etihad in the last 12 months. His goalscoring record has been questioned and even though he’s struggled with injuries there’s been big matches where he’s not featured this season.

It means he is unlikely to be a starter for England at the Euros. And Munich think they could offer Grealish the chance to resurrect his career and boost his international prospects at the same time.

The problem with Grealish is not his ability (Bayern Munich might be able to use someone like him to help turnover the wing position on the roster), but his price, which will likely be pretty steep.

Bayern Munich might want a few new wingers, but also might not want to break the bank.

Nagelsmann admires street-footballing ability of Moose (Telefoot via @iMiaSanMia)

Julian Nagelsmann said that football needs more players like Jamal Musiala to emerge.

“We need this kind of players, players who come from street football in a way. He doesn’t feel the pressure, he just wants to play football and win matches,” Nagelsmann said.

City scoping Frimpong (HITC via 90Min.com)

Manchester City is considering bringing back one of its old academy players — Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong:

Manchester City have spoken to Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong over a return to the club. The wing-back spent nine years in City’s academy.

Bavarian Podcast Works: Weekend Warm-up Show Season 3, Episode 46 (Bavarian Football Works)

Bayern Munich’s season might be over, but its offseason is already in full swing.

The coaching search could be over, the roster overhaul could be starting, and fans can only sit and wait for everything to play out.

What do we do in the meantime? Let’s discuss it all!

This is what we have on tap for the episode of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:

  • Bayern Munich seems very close to hiring Vincent Kompany (where have we heard that before? Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, Ralf Rangnick, Hansi Flick, Thomas Tuchel Roberto De Zerbi...) and why this time, fans should take it very seriously without feeling like Charlie Brown trying to kick that damn football.
  • The positives of hiring Kompany — his playing experience, his ability to relate to players, his style preferences match Bayern Munich’s ideals.
  • The negatives — no competitive big game experience, has never coached in major competitions for a high profile club, his locker room command might not jibe with the egos and personalities in Munich, and he just got RELEGATED. All that, plus Bayern Munich cannot afford to miss...again...on this hire.
  • What’s the Weekend Warm-up’s verdict? Well, this might be a little risky.
  • Aside of that, Chris Führich and Theo Hernandez could be on their way to Bavaria, while Jamal Musiala could be on his way out in 2025.

Weghorst headed back to Burnley (@Plettigoal)

Coming off of a good stint on loan with Hoffenheim, there was some thought that Wout Weghorst would remain in Germany. However, it looks like the Dutchman is headed back to Burnley:

News #Weghorst | The 31 y/o striker is set to return to Burnley as his loan will not be extended!

… and Hoffenheim will not make an offer for a permanent deal.

➡️ But: Hoffenheim bosses, very happy with his performances, the loan is considered a success!

Osimhen wants EPL move (@RudyGaletti)

At this time last year, Bayern Munich was being linked to Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, but now the 25-year-old has his eyes on a move to Chelsea FC:

#Osimhen prefers a move to the #EPL over all other destinations.

#Chelsea will try to lower the requests of #Napoli - adamant on the €130m release clause - by also including players in the deal.

#PSG are still interested, but have different main targets in mind. pic.twitter.com/zShVAM2SO9

Dallmann undergoes hand surgery (FCBayern.com)

Bayern Munich Frauen star Linda Dallmann has undergone successful hand surgery. We’d hate to think about what an unsuccessful hand surgery might look like):

FC Bayern player Linda Dallmann broke her right hand in the last Bundesliga match of the season against TSG Hoffenheim. The attacking midfielder has now undergone successful surgery. Dallmann sustained the injury shortly after she had put the FCB women back in the lead with 2:1 (53’). The match ended 4:1 for the Munich team.

Burnley wants Bruun Larsen permanently (@Plettigoal)

Speaking of business between Hoffenheim and Burnley, the English club wants to keep Jacob Bruun Larsen:

Excl. Bruun Larsen | FC Burnley, pushing to sign the 25 y/o on permanent deal as his loan from @tsghoffenheim has been a success!
